Yuuup. Thought I'd make a baby for a change. Most people know I make (and rarely fully finish) dolls as a hobby, so this is another very creepy finished one. ^^
She's solid polymer clay, finished off with oils, with auburn mohair. She's in a hand-made padded nest of feathers, and is 3 1/3" long. You can see her size by my hand in the close-up view.
O_O Ack! At first I thought it was REAL!
The hair is such a nice touch and you've captured the odd face of a very young new born perfectly. I wonder if the arms are a little too long for a baby this young but I have never made a doll in my life so I probably don't know what I'm talking about.
Is the hair real? As in, did you aquire it from a person? And is the head moveable or not? Bravo on the toes, given how small this is I'm amazed they acutally look like they're gripping!!

thankyooou!
There are some anatomical pitfalls, this was my first baby and I had absolutly no clue what I was doing, anatomy-wise. I'm more clued up now. The hands and feet are also too large ^^
It's not movable, sadly. This small it would be difficult to make it pose. The hair is mohair, which I /think/ is from a Llama :3
Thanks for your comments! ^^
If you need some reference pics I have several of both Damien and Travis right after they were born. I like this, it's very unique and well made from what I can see. Nice job.
Oh, you know that would actually be really handy if it's not too much trouble! My email is IndigoOcean@gmail.com ^^
I did find a few pictures of newborns on the internet, but nothing too useful :}
Thanks!
Omighaw it is so tiny and creepy and cool *pokepokes it* The texture is interesting, it looks like it is wet. (Mohair, by the way, is donkey hair! Yay for donkeys!)
Oh man, I have this beret made of mohair... It DOES feel soft, but if you wear it for more than five seconds it's really really itchy Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's donkey hair... Moo.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
The Cutting Edge is a weekly article that features brand new selected high quality art products that caught our eyes. Check out the cutting edge prints some of your fellow artists have submitted in the past week!
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example.
